Honey for Your Heart
a wild medicine walk to nourish your heart
In collaboration with Medical Herbalist Helen Rideout, we’re excited to offer a Wild Medicine Walk in the spiritual village of Avebury, home to the world’s largest prehistoric stone circle.
Going back generations Avebury’s landscape has been seen as one that holds a mysterious pull to its energetic centre. Come together during this potent week of the Autumn Equinox - a moment of balance when day equals night, before the darkness begins to take over the light.
This offering is designed to encourage you to explore your inner and outer landscape, and deepen your relationship with the natural world.

Forage and create a simple hawthorn herbal remedy
Enjoy mindfulness based practices to slow down, be present in the moment and swap screen time for green time

The Power of Hawthorn
““Hawthorns are one of the most wild, enchanting and loved of our native trees. Known as faerie trees and trees of enchantment, they hold a special indefinable other worldly energy that draws us in and opens our hearts to the wild spirit of Nature and our own wild edges.””
Hawthorn’s apple shaped berries ripen in the Autumn, and it’s these little ruby gems that we’ll be collecting for our herbal remedy making that you can take away to support your physical and emotional heart.
Above all, Hawthorn is a herb for the heart - both in the physical and emotional sense. Physically, we use hawthorn as a cardiac tonic: it can help to regulate blood pressure and heal the heart after physical trauma. It also supports the health of the cardiovascular system as a whole; its wonderful deep red berries contain antioxidant flavonoids that help give our veins and arteries the flexible strength to expand and contract, passing the life giving blood around our bodies. This life-blood giving herb also provides us with the blossom in May that works as a cardiac tonic too, but even more so, as an emotional nervous system healing herb. Bringing us to a place of peace and acceptance after grief, loss and heartache.
Helen Rideout is a Medical Herbalist with 20 years of experience in clinical practice. She runs a busy practice in Bristol at her beautiful harbourside dispensary. She loves to come and share her love and knowledge of the herbs out in the wild with you and is always happy to answer any of your questions about foraging, identification, medicine making and to discuss how herbal medicine could work to support you in your lives.
