WINTERING

a seaside walking and yoga retreat

21 - 24 November 2025

Inspired by Katherine May’s ‘Wintering’, this retreat is a quiet rebellion again modern society’s obsession with constant doing. It offers a counter-narrative that honours intentional rest, slowing down and embracing quietude as forms of strength.

This retreat is intentionally small, with just seven places, ensuring a warm, intimate atmosphere where genuine connection can unfold naturally.

Investment per person £295 - £350 depending on room choice

The retreat is inclusive of all your meals except for lunch on Saturday

This retreat might be for you if:

You find yourself worn thin by the pace of life, in particular during the festive period

You want to lean into the cold, dark times instead of fearing them, reconnect with your inner rhythms and restore your energy

You’re navigating a personal “winter” — grief, transition, fatigue, or emotional heaviness

You crave community with others who are also learning how to soften, pause, and be present

You’re drawn to gentle practices like yoga, breathwork and mindful movement to support your body

You’d like to continue to develop your relationship with the natural world through walking outdoors and embracing the raw, rugged beauty of winter

Invitations for inner and outer exploration

Below you’ll find a guide to the nourishing experiences we’ll share together between plenty of down time.

Although participation is encouraged, please note that all offerings are optional and it is important to listen to your own body and emotional needs.

Guided coastal walk

7.5miles, 3.5hrs approx walking time + breaks, total ascent: 879 ft

On Saturday morning, laden with flasks of spiced tea we’ll venture on a windswept coastal walk from our accommodation to Noss Mayo, a charming and scenic village within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Our walk will follow some of Revelstoke Drive, a former Victorian carriage route, offering a scenic loop with cliffs, coastal views, ancient woodland, and hidden coves. There will be an opportunity to partake in a cold water dip along the way. We’ll end our walk and enjoy a warming (and well deserved) pub lunch.

Yoga, breathwork and meditation

Our yoga practices over the weekend will be slow and soft. From intentional rest with yoga nidra on Friday evening, gentle movement on Sunday morning, and nourishing, restorative poses on Sunday afternoon.

We’ll practice small pockets of heart focused breathing during our time together, centering in the heart to cultivate connection and collective care.

Seaside amble and cold water dip

On Sunday after brunch we’ll amble down to our local cove, less than a twenty minute walk from the accommodation.

Allow a settling of inner stillness as you listen to the sound of waves, the call of seabirds, the wind moving across water and skin. If you’re feeling brave you may like to head into the water for a revitalising cold dip before heading up to the house for a spacious afternoon of yoga and time to yourself.

Nourishing meals, shared together

Our meals will be healthy, nourishing and vegetarian - thoughtfully prepared using seasonal, wholesome ingredients.

We’ll cook together in a relaxed and welcoming space, turning mealtimes into moments of connection and creativity. Whether you're chopping, stirring, or simply offering company in the kitchen, the process becomes part of the practice — a chance to slow down, be present, and share in something simple and meaningful.
