Women’s Coastal Pilgrimage

“I walk in the world to love it.” - Mary Oliver

Four days and three nights backpacking along the wild edges of Cornwall’s Lizard Peninsula - a journey of sea, sky, and self.

Step away from the familiar and embark on a journey that is both adventure and homecoming - a place to meet yourself in the vastness of nature and the quiet strength of supportive community.

Take a moment to look at the photos from our last trip!

I was definitely hesitant at the start because I didn't know anyone, but I was instantly put at ease. Everyone welcomed me with big, friendly hugs, and it was comforting to realise we all shared the same nervous, excited energy! …I would encourage anyone to give this trip a go. While you might step out of your comfort zone at times, it only adds to the massive sense of achievement at the end.

Everything you need to know

  • More than a hiking trip, it’s a gentle pilgrimage - time to strip back to what’s essential, to carry only what you need, and to walk in step with the tides of your own breath.

We journey together, with each of us following our own path, as we share stories, laughter, and moments of stillness.

Just as the sea shapes the land along cliff edges and down in hidden coves, we too can allow water and wind to soften our edges.

“Not all who wander are lost.” - J.R.R. Tolkien

  • Over four days we’ll follow a section of the South West Coast Path, walking between 5-7 miles a day.

We’ll be backpacking with the option to either carry your own kit or choose a luggage transfer option and simply carry a small day pack with you. (There’s no judgement here, it’s important you make a choice that best suits your body)

Our meeting point will be in the centre of Helston (where there are long stay car parks) and we will travel together via taxi to our starting point on the coast path. You will be dropped off at our meeting point in our chosen Helston car park at the end of our walk.

Over our journey we will weave together:

    • Walking & exploration of the Lizard Peninsula’s wild coastline

    • Moments of rest and reflection - journaling, poetry, time alone

    • Guided breathwork and nature connection practices

    • Wild swimming in coves and tidal pools

    • Folklore and local stories

    • Shared meals and stories under the stars

It’s a journey of both movement and stillness - balancing the call of adventure with space to reconnect and restore.

We are purposely not covering great milage every day - as this is much more about the journey than where we are going and how fast we can get there.

  • You’ll be provided with a quality, lightweight backpack pre-loaded with your core camping essentials (tent, sleeping mat, pillow, mug, and utensils).

All you’ll need to bring is your clothes, a three season sleeping bag, a pair of walking poes and a few other items which will be listed in the comprehensive packing guide I will share with you once you book.

    Included:

    • Professional guiding and support for four days

    • Camping essentials and lightweight backpack

    • Simple breakfast and supper is included in the cost of the trip. We will buy our own lunch each day from local cafes along the coast path - eg pasty, sandwich. And of course you can bring along as many snacks as you like!

    • Mindfulness sessions: walking meditation breathwork, poetry, and nature connection

    • Group facilitation and space-holding throughout

    • Campsite and route logistics

    • Outdoor skills: learn the secrets to packing a backpack for maximum comfort, balance, and efficiency, hands-on guidance to confidently pitch your tent. By day four, you’ll feel fully empowered to head out on your own next adventure. Navigation skills.

    * Maximum group size: 6 women - small enough for connection, strong enough for shared adventure.

  • This offering is for women who feel the pull of the sea, women who crave time outdoors, space to breathe, and the supportive company of others walking a similar path.

You don’t need to be an experienced hiker but you do need a reasonable level of fitness.

We’ve graded the walks as moderate. To find out what this means in detail, head to our Walking Grade Guide.

More importantly you need a willingness to meet the elements, carry your own pack (unless you’ve opted for the luggage transfer option), and trust that nature and your own strength will meet you there.

    It’s for the woman seeking:

    • Confidence through experience

    • Belonging through shared journeying

    • Reconnection through the wild

  • This is a journey that will ask something of you. We walk not to prove anything, but to rediscover trust in our bodies, in nature, and in one another.

The path can be steep and uneven, your feet will tire, your pack will feel heavier some days than others, the weather may turn and you’ll be asked to meet the elements. The coast demands your full presence and she invites you to find a strength you didn’t know you had.

Challenge is part of the pilgrimage. It’s in the climb, the breath, the ache - and the quiet joy that follows. Each step is an invitation to meet yourself more fully, to remember that you are capable, resilient, and alive in the elements.

“Of all the paths you take in life, make sure a few of them are dirt.” - John Muir

  • If you would prefer not to carry your large pack, I can arrange for a luggage transfer service to transport your kit each day. This means you would only need to carry a small day pack with your essentials.

The cost of the service is £80 on top of the trip fee.

If you’re interested in finding out more / opting in to the luggage transfer service - get in touch

  • An £80 admin fee is non refundable.

Up until 6 weeks prior to the journey you will be able to get a refund (minus the admin fee) or change the date of your booking.

If you cancel within six weeks of the walk and there is a waiting list, I may transfer your booking to another date. This will be at my discretion.

If I need to cancel the walk due to extreme weather circumstances (for example weather warnings are issued), I will offer you a new date to join the walk.

You might be wondering…

  • You don’t need to be super fit or have backpacked (or even camped) before.

We cover between 5-7 miles per day and walk at a gentle pace with plenty of breaks to breathe, swim and notice the landscape.

If you can walk for a few hours at a steady pace, you belong here.

  • Not if you don’t want to. It is important to us that this journey be accessible to as many bodies as possible. If carrying a full backpacking kit feels too demanding or simply isn't how you want to experience the coast, we offer a luggage transfer option.

Let’s be clear - there’s no judgement here.

Choosing the luggage transfer option doesn't make you any less of a pilgrim - it’s simply a way to honour what your body needs so you can focus on the connection and the landscape.

  • The world of outdoor gear can feel incredibly overwhelming (and expensive!), which is why we provide you with most of the kit you need including a backpack filled with your camp gear.

Once you sign up, we will send you a clear, simple kit list of everything else.

If you are missing something, please reach out to us before you buy anything! We can often help you source borrowed gear, give advice on budget-friendly options, or look at what you already own to see if it will work.

  • Our groups are a mix of ages, bodies, and backgrounds. We believe the magic happens when different generations and perspectives walk together.

There is no pressure to be the life of the party here. Our small group sizes mean there is plenty of room for deep, laughing conversations, but also plenty of space for quiet, contemplative walking. If you are traveling solo, you will find yourself in incredibly warm, welcoming company the moment we meet at the trailhead.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes - of course! Whether you’re a seasoned camper or would like to use this as an opportunity to test your gear, that’s fine with us. We may ask you to share details of your kit so that we can double check it is appropriate for the conditions.

  • We love dogs and the energy they bring to the dynamic, however this trip is not dog friendly. Some of the beaches we spend time on do not allow dogs, as well as some of the campsites we use.

  • Some of our clients have used and recommend The Premier Inn in Helston.

Meet your guide, Camille

In the late summer of 2023, during a period of large transition in my life, I set out on a pilgrimage of my own to walk the length of the South West Coast Path.

I was blessed to share the journey with another at the time, and I feel incredibly privileged to share this next journey with you.

I am often asked what I remember most about my time walking, and for me, it was the small acts of kindness from strangers - like the gift of a scented dryer sheet so my clothes could smell less like damp camping for a short while or the offer of a sofa bed on an especially miserable night.

Guiding with care and kindness lay the foundation for these walking pilgrimages.

“The sea can do craziness, it can do smooth, it can lie down like silk breathing or toss havoc shoreward; it can give gifts or withhold all; it can rise, ebb, froth like an incoming frenzy of fountains, or it can sweet-talk entirely. As I can too, and so, no doubt, can you, and you.”
