Field Journal - Notes on Noticing
Mindful Walking, Nature Connection & Inner Reflections
On a journey from our heartlands to our wild edges, and back again.
Welcome to our Field Journal, where we explore the relationship between the natural world and our inner landscapes. Enjoy a variety of topics, from mindful walking, seasonal changes, and nature connection, to foraged finds, awe-inspiring coastal paths, favourite walking routes, and seasonal recipes.
Whether you’re drawn to solo walking, wild swimming, or simply slowing down to notice, this journal invites you to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself and the world around you.
Watery Landscapes as a Natural Prescription
Blue Spaces: How and Why Water Makes You Feel Better
I’ve just finished reading Blue Spaces: How and Why Water Makes You Feel Better by Dr Catherine Kelly. In the book she talks of using blue spaces as a natural prescription - don’t you LOVE that idea? It reminds me of the Poetry Pharmacy book series by William Sieghart which I love too.
Without ever having given it a name, I’ve used watery landscapes as a natural prescription for most of my life.
Introducing the “f*ck it” button
Sometimes we need to ask ourselves if it’s time to push the “f*ck it” button
Last weekend, some fellow wanderers and I ventured to South Devon for a weekend of walking, sea swimming and camping - the perfect trio, I think, for a summer reset.
Sometimes I like to think of these offers as a bringing together of all the elements our hearts and bodies need - and then letting the intelligence of mother nature work her magic.
